Resume and Interview Tips
- Have several hard copies of your resume printed so you can provide one for the interviewer and others you may meet.
- Provide three professional references in your resume. Include name, company name, title, and contact information.
- Use an addendum so you don't have to fill your resume with too many details, but you can have them ready upon request.
- Have a professional portfolio, especially if you are in a creative profession such as marketing or art.
- Use PowerPoint presentations if applicable.
- Do research on the company. Have four or five insightful questions ready pertaining to the company's history, marketing tactics, product offerings, leadership, philosophy, or work environment.
- Provide a separate sheet containing a list of your certifications if applicable.
- Do not ask generic questions that pertain to issues intelligent job seekers should have answered by doing their own research.
- Do not forget to turn off your cell phone, PDA, or beeper during an interview.
- Dress appropriately for an interview because first impressions are made in part by judging a person's appearance, and it is important to make a good first impression.
